Charles Barkley joined ESPN Radio’s Mike and Mike on Wednesday to express his opinion on Kevin Durant’s stunning decision to join the Golden State Warriors, a team that won an NBA-record 73 games in 2015-16.
Barkley voiced some strong opposition to the move in his usual colorful terms, qualifying Durant’s choice as mere title-chasing by hopping on the Warriors’ “gravy train” and asserting that it’s unhealthy for the league “when you all get together, and say ‘let’s dominate the league and try to cheat your way to a championship.’”
Barkley is not alone in his sentiments after Durant shocked the NBA world by leaving the team that employed him for the first nine years of his career, but few things have been as predictable as Sir Charles throwing consistent shade towards the Warriors during their recent run of success. In addition to his comments about Durant, he continued in his usual vein by calling the Warriors “overrated the whole time” and just a “good little team.” If history is a good indicator, Barkley won’t be changing his stance anytime soon.
