Could David Lee return to the Golden State Warriors?

When cornered by TMZ cameras at in Malibu, Lee hinted that his agent and the team have begun discussions about a reunion at Oracle Arena.

“We’re still trying to figure it out,” Lee said to TMZ.

With Kevin Durant now on the roster, the Warriors only have a minimum contract to offer Lee. The Warriors traded Lee to the Celtics in 2014 and he played last season with the Mavericks, averaging 8.5 points per game and 7.0 rebounds in 17.1 minutes per game.

The Warriors still have several roster spots open and may be willing to bring back last year’s bench brigade Leandro Barbosa, Mo Speights and Brandon Rush — if the trio will accept serious pay cuts. But the team did sign center Zaza Pachulia Monday on a cheap $2.9 million deal. Pachulia was Lee’s former teammate in Dallas.

Lee, 33, remains a fan favorite, and was serenaded with cheers when he received his championship ring back in April. He also attended a Warriors playoff game and sat courtside. After playing five seasons in Golden State, he has repeatedly said his heart remains in the Bay Area, and his arrival would bolster a front court in need of depth.
