Why he makes sense for the Warriors:
Green makes sense because he is basically an older version of Harrison Barnes. Physically, statistically, and in terms of basketball talents, Green can do pretty much everything that Barnes has done for the Dubs. He will likely be much cheaper than Barnes, so if the Warriors lose out on Durant and let Barnes walk, Green could be a solid replacement-level winger that gives Golden State more cap flexibility at other positions.
Why he doesn’t make sense for the Warriors:
Green doesn’t make sense because he is basically an older version of Harrison Barnes. Filled with potential yet maddeningly inconsistent, Green has been passed around to four different teams, all hoping they could harness the flashes of greatness and turn him into a star. His three-point shooting is subpar as a whole, and he disappears for stretches at a time, just like Barnes has for the Dubs many times over the past four years. At the very least, Barnes is still relatively young and could certainly improve more throughout his career. As Green gets set to begin his 9th year in the NBA, it’s pretty safe to say that what you’ve seen is what you’ll get.
