In a deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, the Warriors traded up to the 38th spot for UNLV’s Patrick McCaw.
The 6-foot-6, 180-pound wing player declared for the draft after his sophomore season. He averaged 14.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and hit 36.6 percent of his three-pointers. McCaw developed a defensive prowess in college, and you can watch the highlights below. He was second in the nation with 2.5 steals per game.
McCaw has drawn comparisons to both Corey Brewer and Michael Carter-Williams. Should the Warriors choose to move on from Leandro Barbosa, McCaw would be the logical replacement — also Ian Clark is still in the fold as a restricted free agent.
The Warriors sent $2.4 million in cash considerations to the Bucks for the rights to McCaw. The rookie agreed to a two-year deal hours after being drafted.
