The Giants will be without closer Santiago Casilla for the foreseeable future as the 35-year-old prepares for the birth of his daughter.
To fill Casilla’s roster spot, the Giants have called up left-hander Steven Okert from Triple-A Sacramento.
Casilla has been on the hot seat for a recent string of blown saves, but is actually having a solid year with a 2.67 ERA and 14 saves in 18 opportunities.
Okert, 24, has allowed four runs in 5.2 innings at the major league level this season, but owns a 3.97 ERA in 22.2 innings with the River Cats in 2016.
