J.R. Smith shows Curry no love in MVP answer

CLEVELAND — This has been the week to disrespect Steph Curry.

He’s yet to top 20 points in three NBA Finals performances, his new low top shoes are getting crushed on social media, and now a Cavalier is busy undercutting Steph’s record-setting season.

Here’s what J.R. Smith told the media about who should’ve won the MVP award. Hint: it’s not the guy who was the first to win it unanimously.

“Other than LeBron, I don’t really know who else to vote for,” Smith said on Thursday. ”I mean somebody who does everything for a team, whether it’s scoring, getting stops, rebounds, steals, blocked shots. There’s not more of a complete player, so I don’t see how he couldn’t be the most valuable.”

“If I couldn’t vote for somebody on my own team I’d probably vote for a guy like Russ (Westbrook). I mean, he’s energy, effort, consistently, got the total package. You gotta go for a guy like that.”

The Warriors PR staff should pass this message along to Curry. Friday’s Game 4 could be known as his revenge game, as he looks to silence all these critics.
