CLEVELAND — After taking a hard screen from Cavaliers center Timofey Mozgov directly in the thigh, Klay Thompson limped to the locker room.
After the a brutal 120-90 Game 3 loss, Thompson was not very pleased with the second quarter play.
“I re-watched it. I’m just confused why he’s trying to set a screen in the middle of the key when we’re both running full speed downhill,” Thompson said. “It seemed kind of dirty to me. He stuck his knee out too, but, you know what? That’s basketball.”
Thompson rallied to return to action several minutes after the play, but he was ineffective the rest of the night, totaling just 10 points. The fourth-year pro is averaging just 12.0 points per game in the NBA Finals and he’s shooting 14/38 (36.8 percent) from the field.
Thompson also made it sound like he’ll miss practice on Thursday.
“I’ll be all right,” Thompson said. “Luckily for us I’m going to take the day off tomorrow and get healthy. But it’s The Finals. Nothing’s going to keep me out of it.”
