The injury bug just keeps biting.
Evan Longoria has been diagnosed with a fractured fifth metacarpal in his left hand, Bruce Bochy told reporters after the Giants’ 6-3 win over the Marlins on Thursday.
“Great win, but tough loss,” Bochy said of Longoria’s injury.
The injury was sustained in the fourth inning of Thursday’s game when Longoria was hit by a pitch from Marlins starter Dan Straily. Longoria was replaced by Alan Hanson shortly after.

A timetable for recovery has not been given, but this is the same injury that knocked Madison Bumgarner out for around two and a half months.
On a slightly positive note, Brandon Belt could return to the team as early as tomorrow according to John Shea.
With Longoria out, we could see Belt come off DL sooner than expected, maybe as early as tomorrow.
