Tyler Beede is scheduled to start a game for the Giants this weekend against the Oakland A’s in the Bay Bridge series. In 9.1 innings pitched this spring, Beede posted a 0.96 ERA, 5 K’s and a 1.50 WHIP. The 2014 first round pick has been extremely impressive.
Beede sat down with Joe Castellano on The Sports Virus Podcast earlier this week, and revealed Madison Bumgarner has been working closely with him on mechanics.
“I thinking changing eye levels, making sure you’re throwing to all four quadrants,” Beede said about his improvement. “It’s something I learned from Bumgarner and it’s something that I’ve tried to implement into my games and to bullpens and understanding when you’re changing eye levels as well as changing speeds it’s just as effective.
“So, sometimes being up in the zone can be effective. But, for the most part you want to be down in the zone, making sure you’re getting ground balls and going deep in the ballgame.”
